What: The Coop Adjustable Pillow
Anything I should know?: You can buy it directly via Coop’s website or from Amazon.
Do you have a favorite pillow? Out of the six on my bed, I used to have only one I liked sleeping on. This meant that every night I would pat down each pillow in search of “the good one” and then the other, less worthy pillows would be stacked on the floor til I made my bed the next day. What a weird thing, to have all these pillows that I hated and refused to sleep on, but then also just, like, kept on my bed.
It all changed when I was introduced to The Coop.
Coop, glorious Coop.
This is THE pillow. This is the pillow that people tell you about when you ask for pillow recommendations. The first time I slept on The Coop, I was staying at a friend’s house and sleeping on her couch for a few nights. I remember she was overly apologetic about the comfort of her couch (it was fine; I love a couch), but handed me a Coop pillow and some blankets and told me I was going to love the pillow. She was right. I woke up being like, uh, what the fck is this pillow and where can I get one. She said she had heard about it from her sister-in-law, who heard about it from a coworker. If any product had a viral word-of-mouth moment, it’s The Coop. To this day I have never been served a traditional ad for it.
It’s firm but it molds to your head. It’s nice for side sleepers and stomach sleepers. It’s adjustable, which is insane, but it’s true: You can add or remove fill in your Coop to pump up or tone down your fluff (aka shredded bamboo foam). It can be washed in the washing machine (this is groundbreaking; do you know how disgusting our pillows are? They are disgusting). It’s meant to help with spine and back comfort — another groundbreaking innovation. Usually the way I sleep is the root cause of my body aches and pains. We don’t have to live like this!
The Coop’s original model runs about $60 with their luxury Eden model going for $65 and their body pillow running $70 on their website. I have only tried the original. They also sell various bedding accessories like mattress toppers — I haven’t tried those either. The Coop’s original pillow is their hero product. They also make a smaller size for toddlers; cute.
The Outer Cover: super-breathable Lulltra fabric (40% bamboo-derived viscose-rayon, 60% polyester)
The Inner Cover - our inner liners are a lightweight 100 GSM polyester fabric, it allows for breathability without adding too much structure – 100% polyester.
The Fill: blend of cross-cut memory foam and microfiber—a.k.a. the meeting place between comfort and support.
Extra fill Included: 1 foam refill: ½ lb. Each pillow arrives with an extra 1/2 lb bag of fill that you can add into your pillow if you need a higher loft.
Like most chic-font bedding companies, The Coop comes with a 100 day trial with no questions asked, and their luxe Eden pillow also comes with a 5-year warranty. Are you guys warranty people? I am trying to be better about registering products that come with warranties.
Here’s a review from Scott that I enjoyed. Thank you, Scott!
The goods: Better-for-you pillow, helps with pain, is affordable, is truly comfortable.
The caveat emptor: Like a good piece of clothing, pay attention to the wash instructions when you use it in the washing machine.
