The Deodorants Geezers Swear — and Sweat — By
We asked, you answered. Here are the brands that kept coming up over and over again.
The road to finding the perfect deodorant is long, winding, sweaty and smelly. There’s natural deodorant, there’s not-so-natural deodorant, there are women who swear by men’s deodorant, there are people who swear by not wearing deodorant. No one is wrong! No one is right! But everyone has questions about what the best deodorant is, and if it’ll work for them.
We asked Geezers on Instagram to give us their deodorant of choice and here are the picks that kept coming up over and over again.
Whether you’re a super-sweater looking for the most aluminum you can get or simply trying to mask B.O. with something pleasant, there's something for everyone. Check out the top recommendations below and let us know what we’re missing!
CONTAINS ALUMNIUM:
Mitchum Triple Odor Defense Advanced Control Antiperspirant & Deodorant Stick, $2.99: Preferred by the super sweaty amongst us that remain loyal to aluminum to stave off wetness. It reliably works to prevent the worst pit stains and when you sweat through basically everything, that’s what you need.
Donna Karan Cashmere Mist, $30: The deodorant with the biggest fandom and for the price, it has got to be thatgood. When the internet thought this deodorant was discontinued, it was a bad day for armpits everywhere. Luckily, it was just another supply chain shortage, but fans have told us they are now bulk buying should there be another scare. P.S. Check out Ulta, should Sephora be out.
DOES NOT CONTAIN ALUMINUM:
Arm & Hammer Essentials Aluminum Free, $4.99 for 2: Arm & Hammer obviously know their baking soda, so it’s no surprise that they’ve mastered this baking soda based deodorant that prevents odor and moisturizes. Available in scented and unscented versions.
Old Spice Wild Collection Wolfthorn, $5.99: Though some prefer the classic smell, the newer scents, like Wolfthorn, have recently gained popularity. As Old Spice puts it, “smell sniff-worthy.”
Venus in Leo Deodorant Balm, $10+: Multiple followers name dropped this shop which sells handmade luxurious, non-toxic and accessible body care products for all, inspired by astrology, nature and healing traditions from around the world. There are two options for deodorant – with and without baking soda – both available at sliding scale. We’ve honestly never seen a review section with more hype.
Native Deodorant, $12: Choose from a variety of aluminum-free classics like Coconut & Vanilla and Eucalyptus & Mint or limited-edition options such as Key Lime & Sugar and Surf & Sea Moss. In addition to the dreamy scents, users praise the smooth application and long-lasting power. Can’t decide on a scent? Try a travel pack.
Megababe Rosy Pits, $14: The brand known for making body products to tackle “taboo” things like sweating, smelly feet and butt acne never stops expanding their deodorant line up. In addition to Rosy Pits, other follower faves are The Green Deo and The Smoothie Deo.
Kosas Chemistry AHA Serum Deodorant, $15: A unique deodorant serum that neutralizes odor and gently exfoliates with alpha-hydroxy acids, while also soothing, softening and moisturizing with ingredients like aloe-vera and lactic acid. It’s aluminum and baking soda free – instead, AHAs do the heavy lifting.
Nuud, $15: Described as an “anti-odorant,” the power of nuud is due to its patented micro silver formula that is effective for 3-7 days with just one application. Yes, you read that right! No aluminum, parabens, fragrance, alcohol and 100% vegan, supposedly this natural deodorant has converted many non-believers.
