Sometimes there’s a recommendation that just stands the test of time. But before you can declare it so, you actually have to, you know, wait out the clock to make sure it does.
In this case, the little timer just went off. When it did, I ran to my laptop to email you.
So here I am, in 2024, coming to you with a rec I made to a small but mighty group of OG Geezers (before we even called ourselves that!) in December 2019.
(Were you there? Leave a comment on this post!)
Real heads know what I’m about to tell you: It’s the backpack! The finest, chicest, minimalistic, unrecognizable brand-named (in this case, Kroser or maybe it’s KROSER all caps?), black backpack that twenty bucks and free two-day shipping can buy.
The 15.6” KROSER (or maybe Kroser!) Laptop Backpack is ideal for travel, work, and school with its water-repellent fabric, protecting your belongings from rain and snow and whatever else is coming from the sky (none of my business). The built-in USB port means you can store your power block inside the backpack and snake the charger outside to your phone while you’re on the go. Its multiple compartments help organize essentials, while the luggage strap facilitates attachment to rolling luggage, making airport navigation easier on your body (you deserve that).
The thing that really sets it apart: The wide-mouth (see pic below) and durable construction with reinforced edges and a steel frame that offers longevity. ALSO: Two water bottle pockets!
I get lots of messages from Geezers about how they’re still using and abusing this backpack (hi Melissa Mitchell!), but it just won’t quit on them. I adore messages like this. Firstly, thanks for being here since the beginning. Secondly, I get excited to bring back early recs and give them to a new audience.
Thirdly, I love knowing that the purchases you made based on the recommendations I gave five years ago are still fulfilling their purpose and living up to the hype. Geezer Molly S. said it best, “Sometimes I want a new backpack, but I just don’t need a new backpack. There’s no improvement to be made on this one!”
Hot tip: The wide-mouth is an absolute essential worker when you’re traveling. It makes finding stuff so much easier because you can actually, you know, open up your backpack and see everything rather than thrust a full arm in and hope you find your snacks at the bottom.
All that for $20? Too good. Pass it on.
PS! While I have you here and because I know Geezers are big Shop Cash heads, it's Beauty + Wellness Week in the Shop app and a ton of Geezer-beloved brands (Osea! Saie! Olaplex! Jones Road! Naturium!) are participating and offering 20% Shop Cash back (!) when you make a purchase through the app.
It's seriously a very fun way to shop, and if you haven't tried it, this would be the week to do so! PLUS, as a little something extra you can get $5 Shop Cash to jumpstart your shopping spree when you go to shop.cash/geethanks. I'm personally using this opportunity to buy a few things from a few brands I've been wanting to try (Naturium being at the top of the list, thanks to recs from so many Geezers).
(PS: You always earn 1% of every purchase made through the Shop app as Shop Cash so it all adds up quickly. You'll see; it's the true best!). Thanks to the Shop app for sponsoring today’s newsletter.

My floral one is sitting right next to me, it's so good! I keep looking at fancier, newer bags, but none of them are worth the risk from my $20 workhorse.
I've had the backpack since Feb 2020 (lol) and love it but I do wonder if anyone has tried the larger size? Sometimes I wish it was just a hair bigger for travel, but I don't want it to get too heavy.
